Threads of Life Weaving Project - 10.16.2009

THREADS OF LIFE

Oklahoma A+ Schools in partnership with Southern Nazarene University's Project Management Class would like to invite you to participate in your own weaving experiment. Your conference planners used the idea Weaving Strands of Learning to create the 2009 conference. Now you have the opportunity to share your great ideas and your students' work in a virtual gallery which will be accessible to A+ teachers and students across the state!

First, ask your students:

  • What is the story from your life that needs to be told? OR

  • How does the place where YOU live make you feel? OR

  • What do you want to “say” to the world?

Then, decide with them, a medium for their story:

  • How could you weave notes, chords, words, fabric, paper, or movement to say it?

What: An Online Gallery of Woven Art, Music, Writing, Theatre and Dance and a Live Gallery Showing and Reception

Who: Open to students of all A+ Schools and 2009 Conference Participants

When: Begin creating and sharing NOW for participation in the Gallery and Reception on December 2, 5:00-7:00PM with remarks at 6:00PM. The live exhibit will be open from December 1-4. Online gallery available from November 20.

Where: Reception and exhibit, Donna Nigh Gallery, 3rd floor Nigh University Center, UCO, 100 N. University Drive, Edmond, OK 73034

Why: To network and share creative learning with teachers and students across the state

What will the idea of weaving inspire in your classroom?

We are defining the concept of weaving loosely as a work of any art form having at least one interwoven or interlocking component, and are excited to see how our creative A+ teachers and students interpret it in various art forms, visual and performing.

How would you weave using music, dance, creative writing, visual art materials or theatre?
