“It’s so exciting to connect with educators on a national level that believe, as we do, in the power of arts integration to transform our students and ourselves. Keeping Score brings classical music to the table as a resource for deep integration with all disciplines,” said Rosalynn Wade, local coordinator for Keeping Score.

In its 4th year, Keeping Score Education is a professional development program that offers K-12 teachers coaching, materials, and support to integrate music into their classrooms. Designed to complement the San Francisco Symphony’s award-winning media project, Keeping Score Education offers a 21st-century resource for today’s teachers and students. Oklahoma A+ Schools
® shares the belief that integration of the arts and nurturing creativity in every learner are means to truly preparing our students for life in a global society.

Teachers accepted to the program receive professional development throughout the year, beginning with a Summer Institute. Immersed in the exciting environment of a major symphony orchestra, they attend presentations, performances, and interactive workshops. Four full-day follow-up workshops during the school year extend their learning and support their curriculum design process.

“I look at music in a whole new way since participating in Keeping Score. Music is approachable, including symphonic music, and I integrate it in my classroom now. Keeping Score gave me life lessons about enjoying music, not just for teaching, but for myself as a person too,” said Rachel Costa, Monroe Elementary Teacher.

The 2009-2010 application process is now open and applications are due February 27, 2009. For more information and access to the application,
